Leading providers of software for the insurance industry and Microsoft Gold Partner, are looking for an experienced Analyst Developer to join their Halifax team. Experience and level of skill at entry: The successful applicant will come from an IT background, will be of degree calibre and will demonstrate detailed Knowledge and skills in all the following areas: Experienced in the development of software for external customers Windows NT/2000/XP Visual Basic 6 Development using Visual Studio Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 using C# 2-tier development n-tier enterprise systems Experience in working on large relational databases and writing of queries Object Orientated Design and development Software life cycle (design, development and testing) Structured development life cycle methodologies and procedures Working knowledge and skills in the following areas would be advantageous but is not essential: Oracle 9i/10g PL/SQL n-tier enterprise systems SOA architecture Web architecture XML Principal Accountabilities: Within a structured environment, this role will require tasks to be carried out using the methods and tools as directed and to the required standards. The successful applicant will be responsible for: Analysing change requests ranging from minor fixes to major functional changes Implementing selected solutions and documenting the changes made Identifies, evaluates, and prioritises customer issues Creating test scripts and test data and performing the tests Estimate, manage and prioritise work effectively Interacting with clients Work closely with process, product, and services users in order to resolve open issues/concerns Role Competencies: Must be able to demonstrate the following : Provide solutions for changes, additions and new functionality Maintains composure in critical situations Works as part of a dedicated product team, potentially interacting with clients at all stages Produces work to a standard expected of a major software supplier, hence familiarity with industry standard QA practices Good time management able to deliver to tight timeframes Confident, enthusiastic with a methodical approach Team worker, but able to be self-reliant Confident, clear and effective communicator, both spoken and written, able to liaise at all levels both internally and externally Able to complete projects within agreed time scales Ideally be able to demonstrate the following: Insurance industry knowledge, either personal or commercial lines Insurance Accounting or Accounting knowledge.
